What is the Toyota maintenance schedule?

Toyota recommends scheduled maintenance every 5,000 miles or six months, whichever comes first. Each visit includes a tire rotation and inspections. The 2026 Camry, Corolla Hybrid and RAV4 guides list the engine oil and filter every 10,000 miles (the Camry guide adds a 12-month limit), the engine air filter every 30,000 miles, spark plugs at 120,000 miles and the first engine coolant change at 100,000 miles or 120 months.

Every 5,000 miles or six months

Toyota's guides recommend scheduled maintenance every 5,000 miles or six months, whichever comes first. If you drive 5,000 miles in less than six months, Toyota says to go at 5,000 miles rather than wait for six months. If six months pass before you reach 5,000 miles, go at six months.

Toyota also tells low-mileage drivers to mark the calendar and get maintenance every six months.

What each visit adds

Using the 2026 Camry maintenance chart as the example, the items build on each other as the miles add up:

Every 5,000 miles

Rotate the tires, inspect brake linings and pads, check all fluid levels, inspect the wiper blades and the driver's floor mat installation, and reset the scheduled maintenance reminder.

Every 10,000 miles

The 5,000-mile items, plus a new engine oil and oil filter. The Camry chart also replaces the cabin air filter at each 10,000-mile visit.

Every 15,000 miles

Inspections of the ball joints and dust covers, brake lines and hoses, drive shaft boots, exhaust pipes and mountings, radiator and condenser, steering gear, and steering linkage and boots.

Every 30,000 miles

A new engine air filter, plus inspections of the automatic transmission fluid, fuel lines and connections, fuel tank cap gasket and, if equipped, the rear differential oil.

If you drive in harder conditions

Each guide has a second chart for special operating conditions, such as driving on dirt or dusty roads, repeated trips of less than five miles in freezing temperatures, or towing and heavy loads. Those extra services apply only if most of your driving is done under those conditions.

If most of your driving around Peoria is short trips in freezing weather, check that chart. Our service advisors can walk you through the special operating conditions chart for your Toyota.

Warranty and service records

Toyota says maintenance may be done by you or by any service provider you choose, and it will not deny a warranty claim solely because you used a provider other than a Toyota dealership. Damage or failure caused by improper maintenance or repairs is not covered.

Keep a record of each service: the date, the mileage and what was done. If your Toyota is new, see our ToyotaCare page for details of that plan.

Toyota maintenance schedule FAQ

How often does a Toyota need scheduled maintenance?

Toyota recommends scheduled maintenance every 5,000 miles or six months, whichever comes first. If you reach 5,000 miles in less than six months, go at 5,000 miles; if six months pass first, go at six months.

When should I replace the cabin air filter?

The 2026 Camry maintenance chart lists replacing the cabin air filter every 10,000 miles. The 2026 Corolla Hybrid and RAV4 charts list it every 30,000 miles. Toyota notes that heavy traffic, dirt roads, or urban, desert or dusty areas can shorten the filter's life, so it may need replacing sooner.

When do these 2026 Toyota hybrids need new spark plugs?

The 2026 Camry, Corolla Hybrid and RAV4 maintenance charts list replacing the spark plugs at 120,000 miles.

When is the first coolant change?

For these three 2026 models, the first engine coolant replacement is at 100,000 miles or 120 months, then every 50,000 miles or 60 months. The first inverter coolant replacement is at 150,000 miles or 180 months, then every 50,000 miles or 60 months.

Do I have to use the dealer to keep my warranty?

No. Toyota's guides say maintenance may be done by you or any service provider, and Toyota will not deny a warranty claim solely because you used a provider other than a Toyota dealership. Damage caused by improper maintenance is not covered, so keep records of each service.
