Toyota Camry Tire Pressure Guide

Recommended cold tire pressures, tire sizes and the warning light, straight from Toyota's 2026 and 2027 Camry Hybrid (HV) owner's manuals, read November 3, 2026. Other model years can differ. If you service your Camry with us in Peoria, here is what the manuals say to check.

What tire pressure should a Toyota Camry have?

Toyota's 2026 Camry owner's manual lists a recommended cold tire inflation pressure of 35 psi (240 kPa) front and rear for the 235/45R18 and 235/40R19 tires. The 205/65R16 tire is listed at either 35 psi (240 kPa) or 38 psi (260 kPa) front and rear, so confirm the figure on the tire and loading information label on your car. The compact spare is 60 psi (420 kPa).

From the "Tires and wheels" specifications in Toyota's 2026 Camry HV Owner's Manual (OM06147U), pages 490-492, read November 3, 2026. The manual lists each tire and wheel combination as Type A to E; it gives every type the same 60 psi (420 kPa) compact spare and a wheel nut torque of 76 ft-lbf (103 N-m). The 2027 Camry HV Owner's Manual (OM06325U) lists the same values.

Use the pressure on your Camry's label

The manual lists two pressures for the same 205/65R16 tire on a 16-inch wheel: 35 psi (240 kPa) as Type A and 38 psi (260 kPa) as Type B. It does not tie those types to a trim in the specifications table, so the simplest way to know which applies to your car is the tire and loading information label. The manual says the recommended cold tire inflation pressure and tire size are displayed on that label.

For the 18-inch (235/45R18) and 19-inch (235/40R19) tires, every type in the manual is 35 psi (240 kPa) front and rear. The manual also says not to use tire sizes other than those recommended by Toyota, and that low profile 18-inch and 19-inch tires should be kept at the proper pressure because under-inflated low profile tires may be damaged more severely by road impacts.

How to check Camry tire pressure

The owner's manual says to check tire inflation pressure every two weeks, or at least once a month, and not to forget the spare. Check only when the tires are cold: if the car has been parked for at least 3 hours or has not been driven more than 1 mile (1.5 km), you will get an accurate cold reading. Always use a tire pressure gauge, because it is difficult to judge inflation by appearance.

  1. Remove the tire valve cap.
  2. Press the tip of the tire pressure gauge onto the tire valve.
  3. Read the pressure using the gauge gradations.
  4. If the pressure is not at the recommended level, adjust it. If you add too much air, press the center of the valve to deflate.
  5. After measuring and adjusting, apply soapy water to the valve and check for leakage.
  6. Put the tire valve cap back on.

The manual says it is normal for pressure to be higher after driving because heat builds in the tire, and not to reduce pressure after driving. It lists what incorrect pressure can lead to: reduced fuel economy, reduced driving comfort and poor handling, reduced tire life, reduced safety and damage to the drive train. If a tire needs frequent inflating, the manual says to have it checked by your Toyota dealer.

The tire pressure warning light

The Camry's tire pressure warning system uses tire pressure warning valves and transmitters in the wheels. The manual describes a 2-type warning:

"Adjust Pressure" (normal warning)

The light comes on with a buzzer for low pressure from natural air leakage or from changes in outside temperature. After the tires have cooled, check each tire and adjust them to the specified level.

"Immediately Check Tire when Safe"

The emergency warning is for pressure dropping suddenly, such as a flat tire. Immediately stop the vehicle in a safe place. The manual notes the system may not detect sudden tire ruptures.

Light blinks for about 1 minute, then stays on

With no buzzer, this indicates a malfunction in the tire pressure warning system. Have the system checked by your Toyota dealer.

From the 2026 Camry HV Owner's Manual (OM06147U), pages 396-398 and 436, read November 3, 2026. The manual says the pressures shown on the multi-information display can differ from a tire gauge reading, and that the system does not replace routine pressure checks.

After rotating, replacing or re-inflating tires

The manual says to register the position of each wheel after a tire rotation. With the power switch off for 15 minutes or more, start the hybrid system and select "Vehicle Settings", then "TPWS setting", then "Tire Rotation" on the multi-information display; registration then completes as you drive at approximately 25 mph (40 km/h) or more for approximately 10 to 30 minutes. When tires or wheels are replaced, tire pressure warning valves and transmitters must also be installed, and when new valves and transmitters are installed, new ID codes must be registered; the manual says to contact your Toyota dealer when removing or fitting wheels, tires or the valves and transmitters.

Per pages 400-403 of the 2026 manual, under "Tire Pressure Setting" you can set the system by choosing a specified pressure, or by the current pressure when you run something other than the specified pressure, such as tires of a different size. Either way, the manual says to adjust each tire to the appropriate level first; for setting by the current pressure, it also says to make sure the tires are cold. When the setting starts, the tire pressure warning light slowly blinks 3 times, and setting by the current pressure normally takes about 3 minutes.

Toyota Camry tire pressure FAQ

What is the recommended tire pressure for a Toyota Camry?

For the 2026 Camry, Toyota's owner's manual lists a recommended cold tire inflation pressure of 35 psi (240 kPa) front and rear for the 18-inch and 19-inch tires. For the 16-inch 205/65R16 tire it lists two specifications, 35 psi (240 kPa) or 38 psi (260 kPa) front and rear, so check the tire and loading information label on your car to see which applies. The compact spare is 60 psi (420 kPa).

Where do I find my Camry's correct tire pressure?

The owner's manual says the recommended cold tire inflation pressure and tire size are displayed on the tire and loading information label. Use the figure on your car's label.

What tire size does a 2026 Camry use?

The 2026 Camry owner's manual lists three tire sizes: 205/65R16 95H on 16-inch wheels, 235/45R18 94V on 18-inch wheels and 235/40R19 92V on 19-inch wheels, plus a T155/70D17 110M compact spare on a 17-inch wheel.

Should I check tire pressure hot or cold?

Cold. The manual says to check only when the tires are cold: if the car has been parked for at least 3 hours or has not been driven more than 1 mile (1.5 km), you will get an accurate cold reading. It is normal for pressure to be higher after driving, and the manual says not to reduce pressure after driving.

How often should I check my Camry's tire pressure?

The manual says to check tire inflation pressure every two weeks, or at least once a month, and not to forget the spare. It adds that the tire pressure warning system does not replace routine tire pressure checks.

Why is my Camry tire pressure light on in cold weather?

The manual says tire inflation pressure changes with temperature, and the system's normal warning ("Adjust Pressure") covers pressure lowering from changes in outside temperature as well as natural air leakage. If the light comes on for low pressure from natural causes, the manual says to check each tire after the tires have cooled and adjust them to the specified level.

Is the 2027 Camry the same?

Yes, on these points. Toyota's 2027 Camry HV owner's manual (OM06325U) lists the same five tire and wheel types with the same 35 psi and 38 psi front and rear pressures, the same 60 psi compact spare, and the same two-week or monthly check advice.

Can Peoria Toyota check my Camry's tires?

Yes. Our service team in Peoria can check and set tire pressures to the figure on your car's label and look over tread and tire condition. See the service hours above or schedule online.
