How to Reset the Toyota Maintenance Light
On the RAV4, the maintenance reminder on the multi-information display counts the miles since it was last reset. How do I reset the Toyota maintenance required light?
After the maintenance is done, use the meter control switches on the steering wheel to select the settings icon on the multi-information display, choose "Vehicle Settings", then "Scheduled Maintenance", and select "Yes". That is the procedure in Toyota's RAV4 Owner's Manual; other models and years can use different menu names, so check your own manual.

How to reset the maintenance reminder
Toyota's RAV4 Owner's Manual says to reset the reminder light or message after the required maintenance has been performed according to the maintenance schedule. Park first: Toyota advises against using the meter control switches while driving.
- Use the meter control switches on the steering wheel to select the settings icon on the multi-information display.
- Select "Vehicle Settings" and press the select switch.
- Select "Scheduled Maintenance" and press the select switch.
- Select "Yes" and press the select switch.
These menu names are from the RAV4 Owner's Manual (OM0R024U). Other Toyota models and model years can label the menus differently; your own owner's manual is the final word.
Reset it after the service, not before
The reminder counts from the last reset. The RAV4 Owner's Manual notes that the Visit Your Dealer indicator will not work properly unless the message has been reset, so a reset after each service keeps the next reminder on time.
Toyota's 2026 Camry maintenance chart lists "Reset Scheduled Maintenance Reminder" at every 5,000-mile interval, together with a tire rotation. Resetting the message without doing the maintenance only hides the reminder; the work is still due.
Do not wait on the reminder for oil changes
The 2026 Camry Warranty & Maintenance Guide says to replace both the engine oil and the oil filter, even when the maintenance reminder does not appear, after 12 months have passed or when the car has been driven over 10,000 miles since the last oil change. Toyota adds that this may cause the reminder to appear even when you have driven less than 10,000 miles.
If your car is mainly driven on dirt or dusty roads, or on repeated trips of less than five miles in temperatures below freezing, the same guide calls for new oil and a new filter every 5,000 miles or 6 months, even when the reminder does not appear. Keep a copy of every repair order
