2026 Sienna LE or XLE: Choose the Hands-Free Doors You Need

2026 U.S. eight-seat, front-wheel-drive Sienna LE and XLE.

Choose LE if ordinary powered doors cover your loading needs: it already has dual power sliding doors and a power liftgate. Move to XLE for its standard hands-free side-door triggering. If you want hands-free liftgate operation too, look for an equipped XLE; that rear feature is available, not confirmed by the badge.

The lounge seat must not be reclined while the vehicle is moving: reclining can impair seat-belt fit and increase injury risk. This image does not establish equipment on a vehicle in inventory.

Put the hitch decision first

A tow hitch changes the rear-sensor plan. Toyota says its genuine tow hitch requires removing or disabling the kick sensor and turning the sensor setting off. The kick sensor is incompatible with a tow hitch and other accessories mounted to or near the rear bumper. If a hitch is essential, do not count on keeping hands-free rear triggering.

The triggers have different conditions

Side triggering needs the power-door and sensor systems enabled, the electronic key within range and the same-side front door closed. For rear triggering, the key must be within range, the sensor enabled and power OFF. Use the full kick-sensor instructions for the equipped door.

Water, weather, dirt, snow or ice, radio/electrical noise and accessories can prevent operation or trigger it unintentionally. Keep sensor areas clean and turn kick settings off when the instructions require it. At the rear, stay clear of exhaust pipes until they have cooled. Hands-free equipment still needs an unobstructed, supervised opening.

Wait for the door, then load

Keep children, people and objects clear; nobody should board while a side door moves. On slopes, make sure the door is fully open and secure, and never leave a side door half-open and unlatched. Closers remain active when powered operation is canceled. Jam protection can fail near closure or for some object shapes; never test it with a body part.

Use the complete sliding-door and liftgate precautions before operating either system.

Ask about the exact side-door and rear-liftgate equipment alongside any hitch or rear accessory you need.
